Limited Edition "BARREL AGED" Dutch Apple Pie Moonshine, was aged in an ex-bourbon cask for nearly two years. The USDA certified organic bourbon barrel was toasted to a No.3 char. The spirit has been bottled direct from the cask at a strength of 54% abv. The aromas are intoxicatingly wonderful, a mixture of Dutch Apple Pie and whiskey, with hints of vanilla, smoke, leather and toffee. Limited to 100 bottles, we will not have these again for another two years.
Apple Pie Moonshine has been a staple spirit in the Appalachian Region of the United States since the late 19th century. We pay homage to our vodka/moonshine still named "Sue" (she was made in Kentucky) by creating our Dutch Apple Pie Moonshine.
Why Dutch? Hank's folks emigrated form the Netherlands to Australia in the late 1960's. Oma brought with her the Dutch Apple Pie Recipe handed down through the family for generations. These same recipe ingredients are used to make our Dutch Apple Pie Moonshine with one exception, it is sweetened with local raw honey and certified biodynamic apple juice.
